The adult-fun universe will conspire in our favor in April over the Mile High City. SuicideGirls — a.k.a the sexiest show on the planet — is coming to Denver just in time for the biggest 420 celebration in the country. It’s a perfect pairing events. Finish off a day of rally-going and cannabis product sampling with SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque, a full sensory show that turns burlesque inside out with all sorts of geeky pop culture references and themes.

We can’t count how many things blow us away about the SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque. They’re eight girls in a tour bus that hit a different city every night. With names like RosalieJade, Lunar, and Demonia, they’ve made it to burlesque’s most elite realm from hometowns like Milan, Italy and Lisbon, Portugal.  All legs, tattoos, piercings, and Crayola hair colors, the all-star troupe has us in love enough to quit our office jobs and join the tour as full-time fan girls.

The brains behind the show is Missy Suicide, who created the show in 2001. Her vision was to take burlesque to a whole new level, using striptease as a starting point. Creative baby-daddy of the production is choreographer Menwe Sauls-Addison, who has designed moves for the likes of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.

No ordinary strip show, SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque’s production value runs as high as anything you’d see on stage at the Denver Center of Performing Arts. Costumes and choreography pay homage to all sorts of cult classics, from Star Wars weaponry to Game of Thrones brothels to the Fifth Element Leeloo bandage look. It totally works. They’re on to something that guys and girls can both get into in so many ways. Geekdom and nudity pair well — especially if you brush up on your dark-side favorites like Donnie Darko and Clockwork Orange beforehand.

This year, the SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque visit will be on Denver’s highest holiday, April 20th. Is this coincidental or strategic? Probably a little of both. While the show itself isn’t a weed-centric event, the city will play host to a huge number of visitors in town for the celebrations and on the lookout for good adult fun to be had after a day of rallying and sampling. As with any live entertainment venue in Denver, expect the green haze. You’ll know where you are and what day it is just by taking a deep breath in.

The SuicideGirls have something in common with Denver’s vibrant legalization movement — both are on a mission to lift stigmas and crush taboos. Missy’s girls do nudity in a way that inspires photography and art. “When you look at art history, the most celebrated subject is the nude female form,” says Missy. “You’re going to see far more nudity and explicitly in art galleries than you will on SuicideGirls.”

She likes to believe that society is evolving, little by little, and has become a bit more accepting of nudity. The show gets men and women alike lined up at the doors and going home jazzed enough to create their own costumes and photo shoots. Women who have never seen burlesque or striptease before go in with an open mind and leave totally empowered to unleash their inner pin-up. If Denver can serve as a sparkly example of mainstream and above-ground marijuana culture, then the Suicide Girls have come to the right place to show us what haute nude performance can look like. It looks pretty sexy.
